UofL/UofK
Today was the day of the annual UofL/UofK basketball game. Besides the Kentucky Derby, this is a prime time event in Kentucky sports. So, what better to do than throw a party!!! And without ruining the ending, man oh man was it fun!
First of all, the party was great. We had nacho dip, sausage balls, bourbon and Bud Light. What more can you ask for? My mom even bought blue and red plates to add to the rivalry. (The red plates went first, only to prove that there are more UofL fans than UofK).
Let the games begin! Kentucky was ranked #1 and Louisville was #20. So, Kentucky was the obvious favorite. Plus, the game was in Lexington. Besides, Rick Pitino, all odds were against The Louisville Cardinals. But, as any good second half team, the Cardinals pulled it out in the end and won the game 63-54. Neither team played good offense but Louisville's defense prevailed and the true Red Colors won out. Kentucky is having a rough Conf USA year, by the way. The last three teams they lost to were Conf USA (which includes twice to Louisville). This is also the first time a team has won in both football and basketball in the same season. Yeah my roommate and I watched UofL pounce UofK in football earlier in the season.
So, in honor of this glorious occasion. I decided to quote the family in a few obvious but not so often told statements:
Sally: "C-A-R-D-S Cards"
Stacy: "I love this game!"
Mom: "DAV called, they're comin Tuesday to pick up your junk." (inside joke)
Joe: "Tears are Flowin."
Heather: "C-A-R-D-S Go Umass!"
Mary: "Fitch stinks! We shoulda won."
Mike: "Can one coach really make that much of a difference?"
Audrey: "Uhhhh"
Bill: "I feel awesome. This is the greatest day ever. Anybody know where the bourbons at?"
Katie: "C-A-R Go to your car"
Sarah: "UK Stinks and now the whole world knows it."
Bobby: Before halftime "Light the candle and say a prayer" After halftime "I'm willing to negotiate".
Patty: "Drink more Beer!"

A Christmas Carol
Tonight I saw Christmas Carol at Actors Theatre of Louisville. I played the Giggling Sister two years ago and it's really a lot of fun seeing it again. Although, last year the giggling sister was not up to par. This year, I can safely safe she held her own. Although, as my family would say, I am certainly the best giggler in town.
I went to the show with Brent Langdon. He's in New York now but he played Bob Crachit there for the past three years. I thought he was the perfect Bob Crachit. I think that's because I think he somehow looks like the muppets Bob Crachit character. Shhhhh. Don't tell him.
We had fun. I got to hang out afterwards in the bar and I felt very out of the loop. But that's a good thing I suppose. My friend Pablo said he was watching Moulin Rouge the other day and said he couldn't stop thinking about how I look just like Nicole Kidman. He said I have prettier eyes though. I really gotta work on finding that Tom Cruise now...

Merry Christmas!
I love Christmas. Giving gifts and spreading thank yous are two of my favorite things in life!
Christmas Eve is spent at my mom's family's house. The home of Jay & Sarah Conder, aka Grandma and Grandpa Conder. This year's gifts of choice were fleece jogging suits. All of the cousins got one. It was the thing to do apparently. Some even had little monkey butts. Monkeys from Aeropostale. Very hip jogging pants. I didn't get a jogging suit but I did get a very relaxing paraffin wax hand dip. I don't know how my Aunt Patty does it, but she always seems to give the best gifts.
Christmas Day is spent at my dad's house, aka Ken Mayer. This year he had people over at 4:00 so I went to my friends, Les and Larry's house. I met them when I worked at Actors Theatre and I love going to their open house on Christmas day. It's been three years now so I guess we can call it a tradition? We drink Bloody Marys, Mimosas and eat lots of good food. Then I went off to my dad's house, where I got two fleece jogging suits. Thank goodness, I am finally hip!
Other gifts of note, money, money, money, a new palm pilot (to replace the one the Gremlins ate), a printer/scanner/copier, pretty me up products and suction bags to hold all my clothes. I was really blessed this Christmas!
